Winter Wonderland

I was overjoyed when I woke up this morning,
To see the lovely world in front of me.
The road was iced all over,
And the ice and snow on the trees.

What a wonderful Season Winter is,
When all is snug inside,
The children can now go out,
And enjoy their Winter slides.

The children have already built a snowman,
And really handsome is he,
Black hat and tie with buttons,
And the children full of glee.

The decorations were put in place,
Just in time for snow,
No one can display their love for Winter,
As well as the children know.

I could hardly wait to get dressed warmly,
And join in all the fun,
It is the time for snowball fights,
That's fun for every one.

The roof tops in all the village,
Are spectacular to view,
A sleigh ride in the sleigh,
May be just the thing for you.

The cold wind blowing in our faces,
Wakes up our lazy bones,
And shows what fun that Winter brings,
Just playing around our home.

Sometimes I feel as if I were young again,
Some changes there'd have to be,
But I wouldn't have all those things I loved,
My favorite memories.

Like my children playing in the snow,
And popcorn time together,
Or hot chocolate in the living room,
When we have this kind of weather.

There is Thanksgiving on the way,
And Christmas shortly after,
My family will be together,
And the house will fill with laughter.

Neighbors will be stopping by,
To wish us a Happy Season.
Some will stop by for hot chocolate,
And some for other reasons.

Our neighborhood is just like family,
Whatever we have we share,
Cookies and cakes, snacks of every kind,
Show up from everywhere.

We make snow ice cream,
When the snow gets really deep,
Something we look forward to,
To us it's quite a treat.

We talk about the snowmen made,
When day is done and time to rest,
And have quite a time deciding,
Who's snowman was the best.

It's been a busy day and I feel tired,
A good night's rest will feel real good,
But guess I'd better check the fireplace,
It may be needing wood.

The fire wood will still be smoldering,
As we wake up for breakfast time.
We'll add more wood to get it started,
And that starts it up just fine.

I'm ready now for yet more fun,
Slipping and sliding around,
It's so much fun just being home,
Than spending time in Town.

I'm thankful for my family,
And what they mean to me,
The closeness we all feel,
That's what home should always be.
